Welcome to my site. Here you will find a repository for all my eclectic projects.

This site has now become more of an update point for my cancer diagnosis, treatment, and hopefully & ultimately, my recovery. I appreciate your company and hope to see you around in the long term.

Apologies for the lack of updates but after five weeks of treatment there's not a lot to say.

My tolerance of the treatment has been incredible. The only side effects so far have been my energy levels, leg cramps, weight increase, lack of taste, horrific dreams and other mild ailments. They (doctors and nurses) keep telling me I'm going to go downhill, but it's yet to happen in any major way, although I suspect that's going to change shortly. But I'm glad I've been this lucky so far. Not needing to rely on others really suits my style.

So treatment finally started this week, with chemo on Tuesday morning for 3 hours, followed by a bout of radiation treatment in the afternoon. This continued with 4 more radiation treatments, the last two occurring on Friday morning and another in the afternoon, totalling 5 for the week.

Tuesday, 13th of August, I had my initial radiation appointment where I was fitted with my ThermoPlastic mask.

Thermoplastic Mask

I arrived at my appointment and was seen early. Gotta love it when that happens. I had a few things about the procedure explained to me beforehand, a cannula inserted for the contrast, then headed in to begin.

Last Thursday, 1st Aug, I had two medical appointments. Both somewhat landmark in their own way.

My first appointment that day was a follow-up for my chronic pancreatitis. With everything else that is going on, this was more of a courtesy to the surgeon, than it was to my benefit at all. That said, I was still delayed by 45 minutes in seeing him, and in the end, only ended up seeing his off-sider and a Doctor in training.
